-- On Sunday, July 1, 2012, Patrick D. McCoy will be honored with a reception following the 10:30 a.m. morning service at Takoma Park Baptist Church in Washington, D. C. McCoy became Minister of Music at the church in 2006. While at Takoma, he has led The Sanctuary Choir, Contemporary Choir and began rebuilding the children's choir.
An attire color theme of 'canary yellow' has been coordinated for the guests of Mr. McCoy to be readily identified during the morning service.
At the present, Patrick D. McCoy will continue to reside in the Washington, D. C. area where he is active as a freelance journalists, consultant and performing artists. In addition, after July 1, McCoy is free for substitute work as organist, pianist or choral director for various services, as well as opportunities for employment.
"I have been leading church music for 14 years consecutively, so at this brief juncture in my career, this will allow me a brief moment to recharge my batteries." he said.
Mr. McCoy's first post as a church musician was in 1998 at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in his hometown where he was hired by then pastor, Rev. Timothy F. Waltonen. Other post included serving as the Contemporary Service Musician at First Christian Church and most notably at Covenant Presbyterian Church where he also served as Director of Music and Organist for six years, from 2000-2006.
