HCL Recruitment Underpins Transforming Community Care Strategy
HCL has launched a new healthcare service within its nursing and healthcare divisions in response to the increasing demand for care in the community.
The community healthcare service will supply community support workers and nurses to care for people who suffer from long term illnesses or have recently left hospital and need caring closer to home. HCL Nursing Managing Director Helen Rudanec says the holistic package will essentially be a ‘one stop shop’ for quality community care.
“As one of the largest providers of temporary healthcare professionals to the NHS, we have a responsibility for patient safely and a commitment to innovation and excellence. We have identified the need for support and care within the community and this healthcare service will support Trusts with already limited resources to deliver quality care for patients both in and out of hospital,” Ms Rudanec said.
A recent report by the Stroke Association revealed that a lack of post-hospital care means stroke survivors are not recovering as they should. More than a third of survivors had not been assessed on their health and care needs to help them with their recovery and more than half of people who had suffered a stroke in the last three years had been assessed only once.
“Around 150,000 Britons suffer strokes annually and over one million live with the after-effects. Without vital assessments, patients are missing out on the best possible recovery. This community healthcare service aims to partner with UK Trusts, enabling hospitals to discharge patients safely and with the knowledge they will be properly cared for in the safety of their own home. This strategy will benefit the patient and free-up beds in hospital needed for clinical acute sector resources.
The service compiles specialist nurses and carers to provide support at home as well as the additional services of occupational therapists ( http://www.hclhealthcare.com/
“There is no doubt patients benefit from a comfortable and familiar environment, particularly elderly people and often this can be the ideal place to recover from illness. This service enables patients to recover in the comfort of their own homes, whilst providing vital medical attention and care.
All registered HCL nurses are trained to government and NHS standards and requirements.
“The demand for care closer to home has increased dramatically over the years. So many people want to and need to be cared for in the home but there just aren’t the resources available. This community healthcare service gives comfort to patients when they are most vulnerable, supports a speedier, more effective recovery and frees up vital resources within hospitals.”
