Unprecedented number of rally cars out of Rhode Island for Rally America National Series

June 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Providence, RI (June 22, 2012) – The TAGRallySport service area at the 2012 New England Forest Rally (NEFR) will take on a European feel when they host several teams and cars including Subaru’s, Mitsubishi, BMW and Ford at the fifth round of the Rally America National Series. “We felt it was time to shine the spotlight on the service area at our ‘Home event’,” said Tracey Gardiner, owner/driver of TAGRallySport. “Our goal is to welcome fans to the service area and get them excited about the sport. They will see how crews work on everything from suspension to brakes and tires within a very strict timeframe.

“The service areas are the hub of any rally event, the equivalent to the pit area in NASCAR, and we are looking forward to the support we will receive from TAGRallySport,” said Kris Gove, owner/driver of Rhode Island-based Slapdash Racing. Peter Nelson another Subaru driver from Rhode Island will be part of the Rhode Island representation and wrapping up the contingent from Rhode Island will be Wicked Innovation, a Wakefield, RI tuning shop specializing in import vehicles.

NEFR expects to welcome back the sport’s top competitors, with a special showing this year from the Summit Rally Team from Australia, fielding their two 400bhp, turbocharged, rear-wheel right hand drive Nissans, not to be missed if you are an enthusiast. This will also be the second round of the Open Lite Academy, a series dedicated to cars competing in the AWD, non-turbo class, which will again pair that interesting Mother/Son rivalry as both Rory and Tracey battle in the same class, currently ranking second and fourth respectfully.
