June 26, 2012 - PRLog -- June 26, 2012 - Victorville, CA -- While Americans are preparing to celebrate our nation’s independence, communities across the country will also be celebrating Independents Week. During this week the High Desert will be celebrating the locally-owned, independent businesses that make our community unique and wonderful. Inspired by American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA) [http://www.amiba.net], RelyLocal and their local business partners have several events lined up to bring awareness to the High Desert.

RelyLocal Business Expo
So many local residents are not aware of the businesses based right here ready and willing to serve them! To help remedy that, RelyLocal of the High Desert [http://www.RelyLocalHighDesert.com] put together an event to encourage consumers to “shop independent.” Held Saturday, June 30 at The Mall of Victor Valley, nearly 30 locally-owned businesses will show off their products and services. From 10 am until 8 pm, High Desert shoppers can win prizes, sample products, watch demonstrations, ask experts questions and purchase products from these vendors. The event is free to visitors and will be located in the courtyards throughout the Mall.

High Desert Cash Mob
Started and led by RelyLocal member Steve Sipe, owner of D’Vine Wine Bar and Fairytales Flowers, the High Desert Cash Mob [http://www.facebook.com/HighDesertCashMob] is a crowdsourced event that organizes surprise group shopping trips to various locally-owned businesses. RelyLocal is proud to help promote these events no matter where they happen in the community. The third cash mob event is scheduled for 1 pm on July 1st. The two previous events have targeted Bodacious Bundts, a bakery, and Hi Desert Book Oasis, a used book store. This event will target a home decor store, and aspiring “mobsters” can find out more on the group’s Facebook page.

First Mondays Free Networking
To inspire cooperation and build mutually beneficial relationships within the High Desert business community, RelyLocal has been organizing free networking events the first Monday of each month for over a year. On Monday, July 2nd, from 5-7 pm, the Independents Week version will be held at Juliano’s Italian Restaurant (12052 Hesperia Rd, Hesperia, CA, 92345). This is also a celebration of the first year of business for RelyLocal - Hesperia, the experts in local business within Hesperia, Oak Hills and Summit Valley. The event is free and open to any business in the High Desert. (There is a no-host bar at this location.)

It is the goal of RelyLocal and all their members to encourage High Desert residents to shift some of their regular spending to locally-owned businesses. These businesses have been demonstrated to keep a larger portion of money circulating locally than similar national chains or online retailers. Buying with a locally-owned business makes sense for our community and our families!
