June 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Malvern, PA (June 26, 2012) – Due to her exceptional leadership of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (PPA), Dr. Andrea M. Delligatti was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award on June 22 at the association’s Annual Convention in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This annual award is given to one of over 3000 members whose leadership has made an outstanding contribution to positive change within the organization.

Dr. Delligatti became involved in PPA over a quarter century ago and rapidly rose to positions of leadership. “Without Andrea’s insights and inspirational leadership the organization would not be where it is today. She’s the go-to person to get things done. She has led the expansion of educational programs for psychologists, created programs that provide a steady pipeline of trained volunteers, represents Pennsylvania psychologists’ interests on a national level, and much more,” says David A. Rogers, Ph.D. of Hershey Psychological Services and current Chair of PPA’s Internal Affairs Board.

In 1996 Dr. Delligatti joined PPA’s Convention Committee and was appointed as its chair a year later. During her five years in this position she organized networking events that attracted and retained members. In addition, she instituted effective accounting practices guiding the Annual Convention to become self-sustaining.

In 2002 when she was elected Chair of PPA’s Program and Education Board, it created continuing education programs that now generate most of the association’s non-dues revenue. She also instituted a cost-saving educational format for conferences, increased revenues from exhibitors and sponsors and provided wider access to training opportunities.

Due to the momentum Dr. Delligatti had created, she became president-elect of PPA in 2006 and was officially sworn in as president in 2007. She determined to build a fiscally sound association that flourished by engaging members and developing volunteer leaders. This led to doing triple duty in 2006 as president-elect, Budget and Finance Committee Chair, and Leadership Development Task Force Chair. The resulting Leadership Development Committee creates initiatives to recruit, train and retain the PPA leaders. Currently, there are more than 300 members serving on 30 committees who take responsibility for the ongoing accomplishments of PPA.

After retiring from her presidential position, Dr. Delligatti chaired both the Membership and Early Career Psychologist Committees. She remains an active member of both the Business and Psychology Partnership and Leadership Development Committees and currently represents PPA nationally by serving on the American Psychological Association’s Council of Representatives.

Dr. Delligatti employed the same techniques with PPA that she uses to help businesses reduce workplace stress, increase motivation and boost job satisfaction.  She notes, “In my roles at PPA, I applied sound psychological principles to engaging and developing people in the organization. That’s what I do when I partner with senior executives and business owners who are struggling with people problems that derail performance.  By helping them to create psychologically healthier workplaces, business prospers and profits soar.”

Dr. Delligatti offers her psychological expertise to both individuals and businesses. For more information call (610) 647-1013, email AndreaDelligatti@amdphd.com or visit http://www.amdphd.com.
