Governor inaugurated IB Programme @ The Heritage School Kolkata

Today his Excellency, Governor of West Bengal, Shri M.K.Narayanan and the First Lady, Smt. Padmini Narayanan inaugurated the new International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) programme at the Heritage School on its 12th foundation day celebration.

June 25, 2012 - PRLog -- The day started with a sacred Havan which was performed in the auditorium at 8’o clock in the morning and it was graced by the Vice-Chairman, Kalyan Bharti Trust, Shri Vikram Swarup, (also the chairman of the school managing committee) and Shri S. Bansal, one of the Trustee members of the school.

The inauguration of the IB programme at Heritage made it the second school in the city providing such programme. IB programme is meant for class XI and XII students who would be getting an international qualification similar to ISC/CBSE+2/HS boards but in fact more than these boards in terms of value addition courses, experiential learning modules and internationalization. The headquarters of IB programme is based at Geneva and the qualification would be accreditated by them. “Such international qualification would help the students to grab the global challenges and opportunities,” said Ms. Seema Sapru, Principal, of the school.

“Change-makers of the education system should not tamper it unduly for the present generation,” said the governor of West Bengal Shri M.K.Narayanan during his speech in the Foundation day celebration at the school campus. Moreover he said that the teachers and educational administrators should be involved in the policy decision making process for the education system of the country so that the equilibrium in managing education in the school as well as in the higher education level is achieved. He praised the quality of education which an Indian student has and it is excellent in compare to the students of other countries. “Let us decide jointly what should be the agenda for educational development in the country and accordingly policies should be framed to achieve it,” said the Governor. The programme was concluded after the speech of the governor with a prize distribution ceremony which was graced by the Governor, the First Lady, Ms. Farzana Alam, Deputy Mayor, Kolkata, Great Sports personality, Akhtar Ali, Shri G.S.Rautela, Director General, National Council of Science Museum, Vice Chairman of Kalyan Bharti Trust, Shri Vikram Swarup, Shri R.N.Rustogi, Auditor of the Trust, Shri Kishan Kejriwal, one of the Trustee members of the school and Shri Pradip Agarwal, CEO of the Trust.

Ritika Singhania, ICSE topper of the city and student of the school, Aditya Bhutra, 7th rank holder in WBJEE, also student of the school and many other achievers of the school was felicitated in the prize distribution ceremony on the foundation day along with their parents and grand parents.

The Heritage School is the proud recipient of  British Council International School Award, HP Global Innovation Award, Duke of Edinburgh Award, School Enterprise Challenge Award and many more.
