By: SportsOne A 10-day, 20-acre interactive sports fan experience, TrackTown12 consists of the Olympic trials competition, the largest national championship meet in the world, plus the free TrackTown12 Festival which is open to all fans, even those without tickets to the competition. The TrackTown12 Festival is the result of nearly three years of preparation by event producer SportsOne, a national sports and entertainment marketing agency based in Beaverton, Oregon. TrackTown12 organizers the Oregon Track Club (OTC) and the Eugene Local Organizing Committee (LOC) hired SportsOne to manage the TrackTown12 Festival, including event ideation, design and development, partnership sales, marketing and operations. This is a return engagement for SportsOne, which managed the fan festival at the 2008 Olympic trials in Eugene and has secured more than 90 partners for the TrackTown12 event. “SportsOne is proud to once again help bring TrackTown USA to life and create the greatest track and field event on record,” said SportsOne President and CEO, Jim Etzel. “Partners, fans and media raved about the fan experience four years ago; they will be treated to an even bigger, better TrackTown12 Festival with a dynamic look-and-feel and new and exciting entertainment, dining options and partner activities.” The TrackTown12 Festival features entertainment galore for fans of all ages in a vibrant, sustainable setting. The Festival is anchored by the 4-acre, state-of-the- • daily concerts and athlete interviews on stage • live competition viewing on enormous video boards • athlete autograph sessions • walking or jogging on 8-foot custom-designed power-generating fitness wheels (brainstormed and executed by SportsOne in collaboration with event partner Safeway) • partaking in pints and bites atop a stationary double-decker bus at the London Pub • soaring to Olympic pole-vaulting heights (with the assistance of a trampoline and safety equipment) Building on the award-winning environmental focus at the Eugene08 Olympic trials, TrackTown12 will use sustainable products and practices as well as creative measures designed to minimize the event’s environmental impact.
