Ken Peterson Named 2012 Funeral Director of the Year By the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association
Peterson Recognized For Lifelong Service and Dedication to Families, Community and Profession
Peterson is the owner of Johnson-Peterson Funeral Homes & Cremation in St. Paul and White Bear Lake. For more than 85 years, the firm bearing his name has been dedicated to making Minnesota a better place to call home.
“Ken Peterson has been a critical scholarship funder for the University of Minnesota,” said Minnesota Funeral Directors Association Executive Director Gary Anderson. “Because of him, many students have been able to afford a college education and develop the skills necessary to launch their careers and provide for their families.”
He was honored as the school’s Alumnus of the Year in 2010 for his important contribution to the mortuary science program.
Peterson assisted in the founding of the Children’s Grief Connection, formerly known as Camp Amanda-Minnesota, a special camp for grieving children. He and his wife, Sue, have served on the organization’
Peterson also has been instrumental in the leadership of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association, serving as the organization’
“Ken truly embodies the ultimate professional in our industry,” Anderson said. “What many people don’t realize is that he actually started in the industry in fourth grade. His dedication to local families has not ended since that day. He gives back to the community; learns more about the practice and is well deserving of this great honor from his peers.”
Peterson also holds a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) designation from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.
