June 21, 2012 - PRLog -- JUPITER, Fla. - To kickoff Blindness Awareness Month in October, the Beyond Blind Institute will host their first annual Beyond Blind Fest on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Abacoa Town Center in Jupiter, Fla.

Beyond Blind Fest will start at 7:30 a.m. with a 5K Run/Walk and the "Bells For The Blind" parade. The Health and Wellness Festival will open after the race at 11:00 a.m. and will feature demonstrations from the Beyond Blind Institute's chefs sponsored by Whole Foods, fitness instructors and dance teachers. During these demonstrations, blind members of the Beyond Blind Institute will be cooking, painting, performing dance routines and showing off their workout moves.

In addition, the Health and Wellness Festival will have activities for all ages including face painting, free visual eye exams and free prizes along with food and refreshments. The Beyond Blind Institute will also be hosting a "Brushes of Blindness" art sale along with a silent and live auction with the proceeds going back to the Institute and their new building fund. Auction items range from foursomes at private country clubs and signed sports memorabilia to spa treatments and restaurant gift certificates. One of the highly anticipated live auction items is a day of sport fishing on the Ferrari fishing boat.

The highlight of Beyond Blind Fest will be the live music from Rob Jones and a variety of other artists throughout the day. Touted as the up-and-coming Steve Wonder, Jones, like Wonder, is blind but does not let the disability stop him from being a world-class singer and piano player and has been featured on the Oprah show multiple times. Also performing on the Abacoa Town Center stage will be blind classical pianist David Crohan from Café L'Europe and nationally renowned artist Billy Bones. The music starts at noon and run through 9 p.m. with more entertainers to be announced soon.

A limited number of sponsorships and vendor opportunities are still available for the Beyond Blind Fest. For more information visit http://www.beyondblindinstitute.com or call (561) 799-3010.
