To beat the odds, artists must build a fanbase that actively refers them. Zamplify.com just launched to help them do that online, with a twist.
By: Zamplify Inc. With all that noise, the only way to beat the odds today as a budding musician without a multimillion- Now there is a service dedicated to precisely that issue: Zamplify, a US-Canadian startup whose website just launched in public beta at http://www.zamplify.com, lets fans download original mp3 files for free in return for sharing it with their social networks on Facebook or Twitter. Although sharing is not required to download or stream, fans are encouraged to support their artist that way, and the ability to download and share in one click makes it painless. Songs are uploaded directly by artists, who are also encouraged to lit the fire by sharing them first with their networks. The twist? Zamplify powers ranking based not on how many shared a song, but on how many they shared it with. That variant on traditional social scoring means that fans with a larger social network have more of a voice, and thus more incentive to share good music. Think charts that actively encourage fans to spread the word about your music. According to Greg and Yang, the two co-founders of Zamplify: "Zamplify accelerates the occurrence and identification of the next big hit. It delivers a concrete, elegant incentive for tastemakers to share content, and makes it possible to identify top influencers for specific content and to base commercial incentives on referral activity through its patent-pending Active Reach technology. The concept works with any referable content and brand, not just music." Independent musicians and labels can sign up at http://www.zamplify.com/ End
