Portland businesses sponsor TrackTown12 at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field

The Oregon Track Club and TrackTown USA’s Local Organizing Committee announced Portland businesses sponsoring the TrackTown12 fan experience taking place in Eugene, Ore. June 22 - July 1.
 
June 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Portland, Ore. –  The Oregon Track Club (OTC) and TrackTown USA’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC) announced Portland businesses sponsoring the TrackTown12 fan experience and entertainment plaza taking place adjacent to historic Hayward Field in ¬Eugene, Ore. June 22 through July 1, 2012. TrackTown12 will be hosted in conjunction with the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field.

A free, 20-acre fan experience TrackTown12 is expected to draw more than 225,000 fans during its 10-day run and will feature live entertainment and a variety of other activities for fans of all ages. Portland businesses sponsoring the fan experience include Comcast, Jani-King, KGW News Channel 8, OregonLive.com and The Oregonian.

The largest national championship track and field meet in the world, the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field and will select three athletes in each event to represent Team USA at the London Olympic Games in 2012. Among the Olympic hopefuls are 30 athletes with ties to Oregon including Portland’s own Galen Rupp, who set the American record in the 10,000-meter in 2011 and Bend native Ashton Eaton who is the world record-holder in the heptathlon and the 2011 world championship silver medalist in the decathlon. Others, like reigning world champion high jumper Jesse Williams, relocated to Oregon to train.

TrackTown12 is produced by SportsOne, a leading national sports and entertainment marketing agency based in Beaverton, Ore.  SportsOne also produced the fan experience at Eugene 08, the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field.
