Follow on Google News | Flowcastings new manufacturing facility for aircraft engine casting componentsGlobal and regional air travel is set to continue to grow rapidly in the coming decades, supporting an accelerated demand for commercial aircraft engines. At the same time, environmental regulations are demanding rapid reduction in overall emissions.
By: flowcastings Recognizing these needs, Flowcastings has established its new 3'000 sqm manufacturing facility near Frankfurt to address the increased need for aircraft engine casting components. In particular the company specializes in the development and investment casting of components for the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) and Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) sections of commercial and military aircraft engines. Flowcastings works closely with the world’s leading Original Equipment Manufacturers of jet engines. The new foundry will be solely used for Flowcastings pioneering work in the manufacture of Single Crystal (SX) and Directionally Solidified (DS) vacuum casting components such as blades and vanes. It is developing new, high-productivity manufacturing processes to create these important and highly complex aero engine components. Turbine blades are required to withstand centrifugal loads of up to ten tonnes while operating at temperatures in excess of the melting point of the alloy. Flowcastings' focus is to enable and accelerate continuing advances in the materials, design geometries and manufacturing costs of jet engine components, thus also contributing to the rapid adoption of new and more efficient engines technologies. Dan Abbasi, President of Flowcastings highlighted that „our advanced engineering, metallurgical and manufacturing capabilities are integral to our customers’ drive to improve engine performance and fuel efficiency.“ „We have assembled an experienced management, world-class technical team as well as qualified manufacturing staff. Further recruiting is underway as we look for Mechanical Engineers, Process Quality experts and production operators to further support our growth.“, confirmed Charles Byrd, CEO of Flowcastings About Flowcastings Flowcastings works closely with the world’s leading Original Equipment Manufacturers of jet engines to produce Single Crystal (SX) and Directionally Solidified (DS) vacuum casting components such as blades and vanes. Headquartered outside of Frankfurt, in Trebur, Germany, the company specializes in the development and investment casting of components for the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) and Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) sections of commercial and military aircraft engines.
