Follow on Google News | San Diego Flash Duo Rewarded For Great Season With Major League Soccer TrialsTwo key players of the undefeated San Diego Flash squad are travelling to San Jose this weekend for try-outs after being scouted by Major League Soccer's (MLS) San Jose Earthquakes.
By: Staff The San Diego Flash Soccer Club was contacted by the San Jose Earthquakes last week. Two Flash players have been scouted and were invited to San Jose this weekend for tryouts. The players are: Defender; #15 Adrian DuBois and Midfielder; #23 Sergio Valle-Ortiz. Adrian DuBois – Captain of the San Diego Flash and heart of its defensive unit. DuBois has had a stellar season so far and his leadership at the back has seen only 5 goals conceded in 10 games; with 5 of those being shut-outs. School: Fall Mountain Regional High School Sergio Valle-Ortiz – Valle-Ortiz has been a revelation this season on the wing. His skill and speed causes trouble for defenses week in and week out. Giving the Flash more width in its attack, Valle-Ortiz has been a big part of the two goal per game average scoring by the Flash. His contributions this season has led to a number of important assists. School: Mira Mesa High School San Diego Flash Head Coach Warren Barton said this opportunity to try out for an MLS club was well deserved. “These trials are just reward for a phenomenal season to date for both players. The stats they are returning each game reflect such a high standard of play, that it was only a matter of time before the MLS clubs would starting inquiring about their services. “Our club policy has always been to recruit and promote local San Diego talent. Today’s announcement, together with the signing of Ryan Guy by the New England Revolution last season, is a glowing endorsement of our system. We've always known that there is an abundance of quality of players here in San Diego. That is one of the reasons we created the San Diego Flash Soccer Club; to showcase local players and provide a platform for them to receive these sort of opportunities.” Flash CEO, Clent Alexander, was proud to see another two players from the Flash be recognized for their achievements on the field. “Our program over the past two seasons has not gone unnoticed by clubs across the country and I doubt this will be the last time we see MLS clubs approach key members of our roster. “San Diego has a proud history of producing quality players, including our business partner, Eric Wynalda. As we continue the education of the players on the field (led by the experience of former England International Warren Barton), I wouldn’t be surprised if our club became a factory of future MLS stars.” Alexander said. Fans of Soccer in San Diego have the chance to see what all the buzz is about when the undefeated San Diego Flash (8 - 2 - 0) play in the rematch of the "San Diego Derby" vs. San Diego Boca FC (3 - 3 - 4) this weekend. The clubs played to a 2-2 draw earlier in the season. The city's biggest soccer match of the season kicks off at 7pm this Saturday June 16 at Balboa Stadium, 1405 Park Blvd, San Diego, 92101. End
