Uplift, Inc. Presents INVENTION ADVENTURE Summer Camp to Stop the Murders and Violence.

June 14, 2012 - PRLog -- There are millions of children schools across America are destroying their lives.  Schools have zero tolerance policies that suspend students for nonviolent reasons because they ignored the rules. They cause these students to fail classes and then dropout of high school. These students are sent to the streets as they have no other employment opportunities. We create generations of violent drug wars as we do not see or understand these children need an outlet to embrace their INVENTOR characteristics.

These children that have the characteristics of INVENTORS   –

Contrarian/ rule breakers   Disrupt status quo with a seemingly impossible idea
Creative/ playful          Sees ideas others can never see
Tenacious                 Will stick to their idea even in the face of negative consequences   
Action-oriented                 Cannot sit still. Must be in the midst of an action
Decisive                  Can make decisions on the fly
Master questioners           Why? Is their favorite phrase

I spent three years as a Vice President of an executive search firm placing technical – Patent, Environmental and FDA – attorneys for Fortune 500 companies and the law firms that serve them. I learned firsthand what R&D and product development departments needed. I visited a Detroit school in 1997 to teach a Junior Achievement class and discovered a group of children who had the same characteristics. After visiting a few classrooms and seeing the same characteristics, I left a lucrative career to become a community activist to prove my hypothesis- INVENTOR students are at the bottom of the academic ladder and not at the top.Uplift, Inc. sponsored the creation of books, workshops,  Fluke-the wealth building game of accidental inventions  and now a camp catering to these students.

Uplift, Inc. created INVENTION ADVENTURE summer camp so students can invent and be their normal selves. I want the world to see these INVENTOR students in action. They have enormous gifts and talents that are ignored and wasted.  Let's create the inventors and innovators Corporate America desires.
