Fantasy novel creates explanation for an old legend

New author provides imaginative explanation based in the fantasy genre for the Santa Cluas legend

June 13, 2012 - PRLog -- “He took a step forward and the floorboards groaned with his and Anya’s added weight. Anya looked at him nervously. They took another step forwards. Suddenly, the floor beneath them gave way, and they fell into an ancient tunnel with the large chunks of the broken floor following behind them, blocking their path (not that they would have been able to climb back up on their own anyway). The Santa Claus opened his eyes in complete and utter darkness.”

When thirteen year old Dennis O’Connor accepts a mysterious chain and amulet from a complete stranger, he sets in motion a series of events that lead him to the discovery of the Kindgdom of Darmatia and the mystic tradition of the Santa Claus.

Wright’s story is by turns amusing, suspenseful and intriguing tale written for a young adult audience, but complex enough to entertain fantasy fans of any age. An imaginative addition to the fantasy genre in the tradition of Harry Potter, the Bartimaeus books and the Inheritance cycle, The Sword in the Sun takes the concept of Santa Claus to a wholly new and fascinating place

Blair Wright, like his protagonist, hails from the “middle of nowhere” Georgia. He plans to pursue studies in film and literature at the university level, while continuing to write about the adventures of Dennis O’ Connor.

The Sword in the Sun is published by Wingspan Press. It is available at all major online retailers. (ISBN 978-1-59594-464-1)
