Older Adults Beat the Heat at the YMCA

Active Older Adult Programs Offer Healthy Activities, Socialization in Cool Comfort

June 12, 2012 - PRLog -- (AUSTIN) - With summer heating up, outdoor exercise is nearly impossible for most of us. For older adults, staying active in the summer becomes a special challenge. But the YMCA of Austin is helping Active Older Adults (AOA) beat the heat with a broad array of programs that cater to their particular needs, whether they are looking to stay fit and active, recover from an injury, relieve chronic pain, or simply to get out of the house and socialize.
“At the Y we offer an environment for all - we believe everybody should have an opportunity to stay active and healthy. Our older adults come to exercise and meet new people. They end up with not only a healthy body, as their mind gets benefits from it as well,” said Ron Perry, Fitness Director at the Northwest Family YMCA.
The YMCA offers a great variety of activities for Active Older Adults, for all skill levels.
