Free Technology Forum: Mobility Solutions in Government

Participants in the free event will understand the technology transformations available for wireless networks, the implementation process of BYOD technologies and how utilizing BYOD will improve communication, productivity and constituent service.

June 12, 2012 - PRLog -- The benefits of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) within state government and strategies for dealing with the proliferation of wireless devices are among the topics for discussion at the free Community Technology Forum: “Mobility Solutions” which is scheduled for 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., June 21 at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.

Sponsored by CISCO, the forum will feature Tom Wilburn, VP Mobility – CISCO, and Stephen Orr, Distinguished Systems Engineer, Mobility – CISCO.

After attending this session, participants will understand the technology transformations available for wireless networks, the implementation process of BYOD technologies and how utilizing BYOD will improve communication, productivity and constituent service.  Attendees will also learn best practices and policy concerns with regard to BYOD deployments.

As government usage of mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets, and PCs proliferates, the wireless network has become a mission critical platform for next generation computing and government enablement, particularly around constituent service. Furthermore, the number of devices per user continues to grow, and IT managers must expand wireless networks to much higher densities than required in the past. These data rich and network-reliant types of service require new approaches to wireless architecture, new tools to help diagnose problems and a new commitment to service quality.

BYOD policies are changing the constituent service paradigm, and allowing for greater government employee choice in physical devices while maintaining a common, predictable user experience and addressing productivity and security concerns.

This free event ideal for employees in government agencies, CIOs in public and private organizations, consultants, programmers, application developers, managers, analysts, software engineers, enterprise architects and information technology professionals, as well as educators, faculty, staff and students in IT project management and computer or information sciences.

Seating is limited and registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Please RSVP at www.HarrisburgU.edu/RSVP For additional information, email CONNECT@HarrisburgU.edu

This event is one in a series of Community Technology Forums for the benefit of the region through the Government Technology Institute at HU. The GTI provides education and training for government IT employees through courses, seminars and certification programs, such as the Certified Government Chief Information Officer Program. The University relies on partnerships with companies, such as CISCO, to develop content for hands-on workshops and courses which focus on innovations, trends, industry best practices and emerging technologies that can aid in developing future service offerings to meet growing citizen demands.
