June 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Director Kunal Kohli loves shayari. This was evident in 2006's Fanaa where he got Aamir Khan to recite heartfelt, poignant poetry. In the upcoming Teri Meri Kahaani, he gets the lead pair Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra to do the same.

TMK is set in three eras - 1910, 1960 and 2012. In the first era, Shahid plays Javed Quadri, one of his three characters in the film. Javed's story is set in pre-independence Lahore and his verse is integral to his character in the 1910 era. The verse was written by Kohli for his leading man. Javed's a village Romeo who uses shayaris to impress girls. He falls in love with Araadhana, PC's character from that era. She's the daughter of a freedom fighter and also resorts to verse to reply to Shaks.

However, here's an interesting twist. Shahid may be the screen shaayar but in real life, it's Priyanka who is a poet at heart. Insiders reveal that "Shahid has never written poetry but PC writes a lot of poems whenever she has the time. She looks forward to every moment, be it joy or sorrow, to pen a line."

Eros International and Kunal Kohli Productions' Teri Meri Kahaani releases on June 22.
