Movie Magic: Summer Acting Camp

Monday-Friday, June 18-22, 2012

The Rose Theatre Company
11838 Wurzbach Road
San Antonio, TX  78230

The Rose Theatre Company has joined forces with award-winning actress Nikki Young to bring a taste of Hollywood to San Antonio kids.

Young will teach the theatre company's Movie Magic Camp, for young actors age 7-14, taking place from June 18-22.  During the camp, students will learn the basics of TV, film, and commercial acting as well as filmmaking and film analysis. Topics include:

* The History of the Craft and Industry Terms
* Cold Reading Skills and Script Memorization Techniques
* Slating, Interviewing, and Auditioning
* How to Get an Agent and Where to Find Auditions
* On-Camera Performance and Analysis
* And more…

Students will be a part of a live TV show studio audience, shoot commercials and film scenes, learn from award-winning filmmakers and meet other young actors who work in the film industry. At the end of the camp, there will be a red-carpet showcase for family, friends, and industry professionals.

As Jessie Rose, Owner of The Rose Theatre Co., explains, “We want our camps and classes to give kids a full arts and entertainment experience.  And when it comes to film, Nikki Young has more experience on both sides of the camera than anybody I know.  Her classes have always been informative, and a lot of fun, so I'm excited to see what she brings to this camp.”

Having taught hundreds of kids and adults across Texas, Young recently ended the regular acting classes she taught through PrimaDonna Productions, Inc. (the company she founded with Chadd Green in 2000); she says, “While I'm not teaching regular acting classes anymore, I still love a good camp or workshop.  And I've also wanted to work with Jessie and The Rose Theatre Company in this capacity for years.  So when the opportunity to teach this camp came along, it was just a perfect fit!”
