Lynette Chen To Deliver Key Note Address at East Africa Business Summit And Expo SA 2012

June 11, 2012 - PRLog -- The East Africa Business Summit announced today that Lynette Chen; will be a key note speaker at the upcoming East Africa Business Summit and Expo SA to be held on July 20th 2012. She will speak on the topic “The role of regional markets in Africa’s Development”

From 2004 to 2006, Lynette served as a Director and Chairperson of the NEPAD Business Foundation’s ICT Sector.  In 2006 to 2007, Lynette was seconded by HP, to serve as the CEO of the NBF, tasked to set up and operationalise the NBF as an organization that represents private sector participation in support of the delivery of NEPAD’s goals and objectives.

In September 2007, Lynette moved to the NBF on a full-time basis as the CEO.  She was tasked to implement a network of private companies supporting NEPAD and the NBF flagships project, the NBF African Leadership Programme which aims to train and prepare the next generation of African Leaders.  Most recently, Lynette established a Project Management Office within the NBF, to facilitate project co-ordination between private sector, government and various development finance   institutions.

Lynette also serves on the Board of Directors of Enablis as the Deputy Chairperson.  Enablis is an entrepreneurship development programme that emanated from the United Nations G8 Dot Force task team, which focuses on developing a network of entrepreneurs in developing countries.  Enablis provides funding and a range of support services to entrepreneurs across various industries, and has established offices in SA and Kenya.

Lynette holds a National Diploma qualification in the field of Communications and Public Relations, from Wits Technikon in SA. She holds a Diploma in Business Management and attained a Certificate in African Leadership from Wits Business School in SA.  Lynette is a great addition to the list of phenomenal speakers at the summit as she offers an all round understanding of the need for regional markets in propelling the African Continent to greater productivity through trade linkages.

This year’s summit will cover areas such as Transport and infrastructure in the region and its effect on doing business, governments and business, and implications of the global downturn on East Africa as a whole as it moves towards deepening integration of the five East African countries. Registration is open for the annual summit intended to bring together business men and women from the five East African countries and the SADC region to showcase what opportunities for investment exist in the respective countries and also give companies from East Africa an opportunity to grow business linkages with South African and other companies so as to be able to have access to various markets.
