-- New Delhi, India: June 10, 2012, Popular media it seems is taking a keen interest in the latest happenings in the world of Indian ecommerce. And for a good reason too. Innovative websites with exciting business plans are getting launched on a weekly basis and while some rake in the moolah, several others byte the virtual dust. In such a scenario, it becomes hard to keep a tab on the me-too copycats with similar offerings and even similar names. However, being singled out by a publication as prestigious as Times Crest must have meant that Designemporia has grabbed the right eyeballs. The website which currently features some of the biggest names in the fashion and lifestyle industry has found a strong niche within just three months of its launch.
Says Surbhi Gupta Tanga, Director of Designemporia, “the response we have received from the fashion fraternity is truly phenomenal. Designemporia now features such industry legends like Kavita Bhartia, Satyapaul, Poonam Soni, Anuj Ambalal, Gunjan Gupta amongst several others.” According to Surbhi, what sets them apart is that instead of treating the company as an ecommerce venture focussing on deals and discounts, they sees themselves as an institution, representing brilliant designers of India.
Says Raman Tanga, Director of Designemporia, “while there are dozens of sites offering discounts, we’re the only ones offering high end couture and luxury items, handcrafted by some of the biggest names in the industry. You really can’t put a price on that.” He goes on add that with features like the e-gallery, India’s first organized online exhibition on design (a monthly feature) curated by none other than Asha Baxi herself and the scholarship program for new designers; Designemporia has successfully set itself apart from the slew of ecommerce websites.
The website is getting a lot of positive feedback due to its sleek, easy to navigate design. According to Vibha Das, one of the regular buyers of website, who recently posted a glowing feedback about Designemporia on Mouthshut.com – “What attracted to the site was its breathtaking design. It took me a while to realise that the Designemporia.in was actually an Indian venture.” As elegant as the front end of the site is, the backend is just as user friendly. Says Surbhi, “Since designers who signup with the website are given their own personal virtual boutiques to set up and manage, it was important offer a code free design. Even if you haven’t ever worked on a website, you’ll be able to effortlessly upload pictures and videos, add text and introduce special sales and discounts without having to touch a single line of code.”
