June 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Newsday and announced today that they were honored with a total of 39 awards by the Press Club of Long Island (PCLI) and reporter Rick Brand was named 2012 Outstanding Long Island Journalist.  The awards were presented at PCLI’s annual media awards dinner at the Woodbury Country Club last night.

The 2012 Outstanding Long Island Journalist award, the highest individual honor bestowed by PCLI, was presented to Mr. Brand for his ongoing coverage of Long Island politics and government.  

“Readers know that a Rick Brand byline means they are getting a story based on a deep and broad understanding of the Long Island political scene,” said Deborah Henley, Editor of Newsday. “All of us at Newsday are pleased that Rick has been named this year’s Outstanding Long Island Journalist and proud that the great work of so many of our colleagues has been recognized by the Press Club of Long Island.”
