By: MedTech Association The lieutenant governor, along with the president and CEO of AngioDynamics, Joe DeVivo, addressed the audience of MedTech members. "The Bio/Med industry is a huge asset for the state. What you do—what you generate—the revenue, jobs, taxes, income and growth here is extraordinary," DeVivo, who runs a market-leading medical device company headquartered in Latham, NY, commented on the strength of the U.S. medical products industry. Unmatched research universities, coupled with the investment community and a driving entrepreneurial spirit make medical products a great American export, he said. New York state is ranked third in the nation for exports. MedTech members report more than $887 million in product and service exports, more than 260 new products launched and $337.8 million in capital investments made within New York state, according to data across the last two years from just 31 of MedTech’s 98 member organizations. During the dinner, MedTech's president, Heather Erickson, recognized five member organizations for their significant successes: Zeptometrix, most new products launched Binghamton University, greatest number of new technology or patent licenses Diffinity Genomics, most new strategic partnerships Novatek Communications, greatest percentage increase in service provider employment Welch Allyn, greatest total New York State capital investment "Our members are exemplars of commercial success and future leadership in our industry and in New York,” Erickson said. "I am excited by what the future holds for the association and for each of the companies MedTech represents. We look forward to a promising year to come and to ongoing support from the state’s leadership.” MedTech's members are pharmaceutical, biotech and medical technology companies, suppliers and service providers, and research universities.
