Before recent Florida State University graduate Albert R. Lee departs for Rome, Italy this June to create the role of Lieutenant John R. Fox in the world premiere of the opera Buffalo Soldier, he will embark upon a passionate endeavor dear to his heart.
Operatic tenor Albert Lee will perform the inaugural concert for the Symphony Seven School of the Arts
Center. The accompanist, Edward Rothmel is his collaborator for the evening. Dr. Lee and Mr. Rothmel will perform excerpts from a program they recently performed in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie including works by contemporary composers Margaret Bonds, John Musto, and Ricky Ian Gordon along with works by Mendelssohn, Rachmaninov and Verdi in what promises to be an exceptional musical evening.
The concert is free to the public; however, it is a benefit for the newly founded professional school for children, Symphony Seven School of the Arts and Technology, which opens its doors on August 13, 2012.
The school is a K thru 5 Academy by day, and a K thru 12 performing arts conservatory in the afternoon and evening. Those parents with children having exceptional talent desiring further training for a potential professional career in voice, instrumental music, theater, creative writing, music production, film studies, history and theory for each artistic discipline. The public is encouraged to attend and experience the caliber of performances on the campus of Symphony Seven School of the Arts and Technology through the Arts Center. Information regarding student enrollment will be provided. Lee hopes that his philanthropic gesture will compel other philanthropists, art lovers, and the general public to embrace the first new music conservatory of the type in the Big Bend area with pledges and special presentations on the evening of the concert.
Arrive a little early and grab some frappe in the vestibule while listening to a spot of music from a few early registrants at the new conservatory, affectionately known as S7. Reception to immediately follow concert:
