Follow on Google News | Gala Concert in aid of The Brecon Cathedral Choir Appeal at the Brangwyn HallInternationally acclaimed savant concert pianist Derek Paravicini is to perform at the Brangwyn Hall on 9 June starting at 7pm.
By: City and County of Swansea He will be joined by the Pontarddulais Male Voice Choir for the charity gala concert in aid of the Brecon Cathedral Choir appeal. Tracy Ellicott, Brangwyn Hall manager said “Despite being without sight Derek is a musical prodigy with perfect pitch and a truly amazing ability to replicate any melody having heard it only once”. “He plays entirely by ear, and has a magnificent repertoire thousands of pieces that he has memorised - jazz, pop and light classical - and he is a great improviser.” Derek Paravicini has played in venues across the UK, including Ronnie Scott's and the Barbican in London. He has also performed in Europe and the U.S. and he has appeared in news media around the world. His first commercial album is ‘Echoes of the Sounds to Be’ and documentaries about his life have recently aired in the US, the UK, Australia, Germany and numerous other countries.
