June 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Is branding a savvy marketing initiative that can save a business in this struggling economy – or just the latest trendy sales strategy?

At a workshop Wednesday, June 20, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at BGSU at Levis Commons, local business owners, supervisors and managers are invited to learn from marketing veteran Patrick Giammarco the best practices for branding a business.

His three-hour workshop, “Leveraging Your Brand for Growth: Five Pillars to Marketing Wisdom,” provides practical tools to develop strong branding strategies on a modest budget to enhance marketing and increase referrals.

A marketing consultant and digital technology/social media coach with an MBA in marketing from the University of Toledo, Mr. Giammarco has 16 years of corporate marketing and branding experience with Libbey Glass, Calphalon, Microsoft and University of Toledo. He is a founding member of Social Media Breakfast Toledo, a monthly event where people come together to share and learn about social media.

“In this workshop, I’ll explain the only six stimuli that generate attention and ways to use archetypes to build powerful brands,” he said. “And I’ll help businesses identify their ideal clients and how to simply communicate their core messages.”

Mr. Giammarco emphasizes that businesses must determine what they are trying to brand and understand that branding should be the fourth of five business marketing pillars: strategy, differentiation, positioning, branding and marketing communications.

The workshop is part of a monthly series offered by BGSU’s Continuing & Extended Education at their facility at Levis Commons for business owners, supervisors and managers. Additional workshops and presenters in the series are:

•   July 18: “Sharpening your sales skills: Selling is not an art but a process,” Roger Bostdorff;
