DMV International Film Festival Introduces The Actors Intensive
Winsome Sinclair & Associates and Memory Layne Filmworks Initiate the First Program For Actors at the 2012 DMV International Film Festival
Geared towards the development and nurturing of actors, The Actors Intensive is a challenging, one-day acting program designed to help improve auditioning skills and increase knowledge of the entertainment business within the acting community. This program will provide actors in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area with the opportunity to learn what it takes to audition and book work as a professional actor from one of Hollywood’s top casting directors. Participants will work on strengthening audition techniques and learn key secrets to career success.
Of the new venture with DMVIFF, Sinclair says, “We are ecstatic to work with festival director, Tanecia Britt, on what will be an exciting new addition to the DMVIFF family. Some of the most outstanding talent has come from the DC, Maryland and Virginia area and we are so excited to bring this fantastic forum to their turf.” Reciprocating the sentiment, festival director, Tanecia Britt added, “We have long looked for a way to bring Hollywood to the DMV and the DMVIFF Actors Intensive with Winsome is the answer. ABOUT THE DMV INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
DMVIFF will be held June 15th-17th 2012. The goal of the festival is to bring higher visibility to the independent film makers, artist, musicians etc. of the DC area in one joint festival. We want to give these talents a platform to display their work and promote unity within the arts, while simultaneously introducing a new audience to an existing thriving art scene in DC. We are bridging the international audience past what is reflected in media to show the lifestyle and many talents of the area and International territory.
ABOUT WINSOME SINCLAIR
One of the most sought after casting directors on the East Coast, Winsome Sinclair has collaborated with such directors as Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and John Singleton, casting principals and extras for the films Amistad, Malcolm X,Waiting to Exhale, She Hate Me,Inside Man, Too Fast Too Furious, Black Snake Moan, Cadillac Records and Precious, among others. Her most recent projects include For Colored Girls, Violet & Daisy and the upcoming remake of the classic Sparkle. In addition to features, Sinclair has also cast projects for network television. Her firm, Winsome Sinclair & Associates, with offices in New York City, is celebrated for creating valuable jobs for many African-American and Latino actors. Sinclair is a co-founder and serves as producer for the full-service production company, Legacy Media Group.. Her company founded the TV/Film Production Certificate Program at Medgar Evers College. The program, presented by Legacy Media in conjunction with Medgar Evers Personal Development Institute and affiliated with the Adult Continuing Education at Medgar Evers College, gives students hands-on training and preparation for a career in film and television production. Sinclair also serves as an instructor for the first course of its kind at the Brooklyn campus. She is currently casting and producing the UK feature, Flowers Don’t Grow In England. Sinclair is a member of the New York Women In Film and Television.
