June 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Jonathon Gomez, driver of the #22 Century Boatland/Living Like a Pirate Chevrolet in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, scored a third place finish Saturday night at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the running of the Star Nursery "200" at the banked 3/8-mile paved oval.

Gomez qualified sixth in the 26-car field and just let the race play out over the opening laps dropping a few positions as the field started to get strung out.

After about 40-laps, Gomez started to work his way back towards the front and passed cars when the opportunity presented itself without getting into any trouble. Over the closing laps, Gomez was actually running faster laps times then were the leaders allowing him to move into the third position. His forward momentum was halted when a slower car dumped oil in his racing groove causing his Century Boatland Chevrolet to lose front end bite in the corners even though he was able to run the leaders down on the straights and get his nose inside.

"We had a great car for The Bullring," Gomez offered. "We keep getting better and better each race and we are having the kind of finishes we need to get back in this championship. The Gene Price guys are hard to beat but we are really confident and doing what we can to close the gap."

The finish moved Gomez up one position in the standings to sixth after seven of 15-races just 22-points out of fifth place and 66-points behind point leader Dylan Kwasnieski.

Gomez has made 34 career starts in the NKNPS after making his series debut at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, OR on July 11, 2008. In his 34 career starts he has seven top five and 16 top ten performances. He has a career best finish of second place twice (Iowa & Phoenix).

Gomez Motorsports is owned by John Gomez, a successful farmer and businessman based in Idaho. The team is lead by crew chief Craig Raudman and supported by Ron Copeland, Blaine Bergem, Derek Copeland, Kyle Cattanach, Adam Wyse, and Mike Mulder.

The next event for the Gomez Motorsports team will be Saturday, June 23 at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, CA. His best finish at Sears Point was 11th two seasons ago. Gomez has started six career races on road courses in the NKNPS with a best finish of fourth at Miller last season. He finished seventh at Brainerd two weeks ago.
