June 3, 2012 - PRLog -- As a part of the Survitec Group’s brand portfolio, SurvitecZodiac products are being exhibited on stand 3413, supporting its Greek distributor Selas Kos.
Both of the featured liferaft designs have been developed from an understanding of the ship operator and naval architect’s need to preserve deck space. The result is the company’s unique range of self-stacking, davit-launched liferafts which occupy a significantly smaller footprint, in addition to being more versatile and simpler to install than conventional liferafts. The cleverly designed containers are built to interlock and create a self-supporting structure that gives naval architects a wider range of options when planning deck layouts.
In taking the space saving objective to its next level, the SurvitecZodiac brand has also developed the smallest SOLAS approved liferaft container on the market. The SurvitecZodiac Ultra Compact “Xtrem” liferaft, is a masterpiece of compressed packaging made possible by the company’s unique air extraction technology. This results in a liferaft container that is significantly smaller than comparable products containing liferafts of the same size.
The importance of the Greek community’s ferry market to the SurvitecZodiac brand is extremely valuable and it is for this reason, the group is launching a new DVD display at Posidonia, which shows the deployment of the record-holding, Marine Evacuation System escape slide. The SurvitecZodiac’s MIS MES provides the fastest evacuation speed for small to medium-sized ships and high-speed craft by enabling 731 passengers to escape in less than 30 minutes, when used with the Throw-Over 150 person canopy liferaft.  Available in a range of sizes, this advanced slide system is a valuable option for operators and ship builders of small to medium size vessels as it can be added as a retrofit or for a new build.
The world’s first automatically launched escape slide, the SurvitecZodiac MES ESS, is also featured on the Selas Kos stand display.  Ferry operators can consider the advantages of a system that becomes ready for use simply after a button on the bridge is pressed. The SurvitecZodiac MES ESS features a slide and an open reversible liferaft that can be launched and inflated without any input from the crew. Electric winches automatically tension bowsing lines to secure the system so it is ready for use. The SurvitecZodiac MES ESS is likely to be of particular interest to operators of small ferries and passenger ships as it can free crews to undertake other duties that can arise in an emergency.
