By: Fred Mullins When Monroe County public schools let out June 7, many Keys camps will start up, such as the Boys & Girls Club's annual 10-week summer camp, a full-time program that offers lunches. The traditional summer-long camps include the Cornish Memorial AME summer recreation program, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays from June 7-Aug. 17 at 702 Whitehead St The church's program costs $125, and vouchers issued by Wesley House Family Services are accepted. The camp promises field trips, swimming lessons, and lessons on Key West history, along with a light breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.. The Studios of Key West is again offering kid-specific summer classes at its 600 White St. location in the historic Armory building "Art is Cool" runs every Saturday in June from 10 a.m. to noon and features three Key West artists teaching various media "Kids are going to learn everything from painting a Key West rooster, basket-weaving and making a sun print from natural materials," said Elena Devers, the Studios' deputy director. In July, the Studios offers a "painting boot camp" for kids ages 7-15 led by artist Rick Worth, who will teach eight classes from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays. Kids can attend as many as they want.
