Two sitting Senators Roberson & Keickhefer appear to be buying Nevada SD9 race! WHY?A complaint has been filed today with Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller asking for an investigation into what appears to be inappropriate funds funneled into SD9 primary election by the two Sitting Senators. (see below)
By: TRUNC Steve Kirk in SD5, Scott Hammond in SD18 and Mari Nakashima St. Martin in SD9. All three of these races have primaries. In SD5 Kirk is running against Dr. Annette Teijeiro, the grass roots candidate, in SD18 Hammond faces sitting Assemblyman Richard McArthur and in SD9 Mari Nakashima St. Martin is up against Brent Jones. Senator Roberson recently came out in favor of Governor Sandoval’s extension of the sunset taxes. All 3 of Roberson’s endorsed candidates have not signed the tax pledge. It is speculated that these candidates will deliver the votes Sandoval needs to extend the sunset taxes. Roberson is under criticism from constituents who are unhappy with his recent flip-flop on the tax issue. When “Candidate “Roberson ran he called for the expiration of the sunset taxes. He also signed the tax pledge. His 180 on this issue has caused a fire storm of disapproval from constituents in Nevada and there is talk this will jeopardize his re-election efforts. The stakes are high for Senator Michael Roberson which probably explains the questionable contributions from two sitting senators Michael Roberson and Ben Keickhefer. The pair are not up for re-election this cycle. Over 59,000 dollars has been funneled into the Mari Nakashima St. Martins SD9 race by PACs the two Senators control. Also both Senators have contributed from their own campaign funds but are NOT registered PACs, which per a call to Ross Miller Nevada Secretary of State, are improper according to NRS294A.0055. The two Senators have some explaining to do ….It certainly appears they are trying to buy the votes they need to achieve their political goals. Complaint filed with SOS ON O4/19/2012 “Friends of Michael Roberson” 476 Mission Springs ST HENDERSON, NV 89052 Contributed to Mari Nakashima St. Martin, candidate for Nevada SD9, $9000.00 Dollars (see candidates report.) This is not a registered PAC and is in Violation of NRS294A.0055 Also 4/23/2012 “Committee to Elect Ben Kieckhefer” 10045 Goler Wash Ct Reno, NV 89521 Contributed to Mari Nakashima St. Martin, candidate for Nevada SD9, $10,000 dollars. (See candidate report) This is not a registered PAC and seems to be in Violation of NRS294.0055 Senator Michael Roberson and Senator Ben Kieckhefer also are listed as Registered Agents/Committee Chairs on several PACs that contributed to Candidate Mari Nakashima St Martin and makes up nearly half of all money raised for her campaign Senate Majority PAC $10,000 Senator Michael Roberson 50 S Jones Blvd Ste 202 LAS VEGAS, NV 89107 Jobs First PAC 50 S Jones Blvd Ste 202 Las Vegas, NV 89107 $10,000 Senator Michael Roberson/ Senator Ben Kieckhefer Senate Republican Leadership Conference PO Box 281 Reno, NV 89504-0281 $10,000 blanket for legislators? Nevada Majority PAC PO Box 751271 LAS VEGAS, NV 89136 $10,000 Senator Ben Kieckhefer This is a total of $59,000.00 to one candidate, Mari Nakashima St. Martin from the same two people owning different PACs. Both Men are sitting Nevada Senators and I know at least one is a lawyer and certainly knows the laws concerning political contributions. It appears that money has been passed around the different PAC’s in an attempt for these two Senators to control the outcome of a Nevada election. Also the fact that “Friends of Michael Roberson” and “Committee to Elect Ben Kieckhefer” are not registered PACs per NRS294A.0055. It appears these contributions from two sitting Nevada Senators may be inappropriate. This must be investigated immediately due to the seriousness of Nevada elected officials engaging in influencing a Nevada election with what certainly appears to be inappropriate funds. In fact it seems the two Senators are attempting to buy this seat. A thorough investigation should be started to “follow the money” between the two sitting Senators PAC’s.
