-- ABATE of Wisconsin is encouraging its members to contact their elected officials to support H.R 904 which would prohibit the Secretary of Transportation from providing grants or any funds to states or local governments to be used to create motorcycle-only checkpoints. Without this, state and local governments might receive funding to arbitrarily pull over riders and randomly subject them to roadside inspections. U.S. Representative from Wisconsin Jim Sensenbrenner is urging members of the U.S. House of Representatives to sign a letter addressed to the leadership of the House-Senate Surface Transportation Reauthorization Conference Committee to include H.R. 904 in the conference report.
Elected congressional officials can be contacted through the American Motorcyclist Association website. Go to http://capwiz.com/amacycle/issues/alert/?alertid=61394826
and enter your zip code to generate a prewritten email letter to your congressman.
