Queensland IVF Clinic Reports Having A Surplus Of "Clinic Recruited" Donor Sperm

Fertility Solutions Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg find themselves in the rare position of having a surplus of donor sperm from Australian men.
May 31, 2012 - PRLog -- Fertility Solutions Sunshine Coast and its Bundaberg branch report that they have a surplus of "clinic recruited" donor sperm, it was announced today.

Clinic recruited donor sperm is sperm that is from Australian men and not imported from overseas. Since there is a shortage of local sperm donors in Australia, Fertility Solutions finds itself in a unique position. They have more clinic recruited sperm donors than patients needing donor sperm.

Denise Donati, Director of Fertility Solutions Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg said the clinics have a policy not to import sperm from overseas. She said the clinics have expended considerable time and money into recruiting local donors and it is paying off.

“At Fertility Solutions, we are focused on being able to facilitate future contact between the donor and any offspring and do not believe that importing donor semen from overseas supports or facilitates this easily,” Donati added.

There are essentially no restrictions on who can access the donor sperm at Fertility Solutions, but there is a process that people must follow.

Those who wish to use locally recruited donor sperm are encouraged to contact Fertility Solutions Sunshine Coast or Bundaberg (http://fssc.com.au/) on 1300 FERTILITY (337 845).
