Larson Memorial Award of Honor from LeadingAge New York, formerly the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (NYAHSA).  The Lawrence E. Larson Memorial Award of Honor was established in 1979 as a tribute to NYAHSA’s first Chairman.

In presenting the award during ceremonies held May 23rd at its Annual Conference and Exposition in Saratoga Springs, LeadingAge New York President and CEO James W. Clyne, Jr, said: “Jim Davis exemplifies those qualities for which this award was established.  He holds a distinguished record of service, education and advocacy in the field of aging and is dedicated to mentoring others in the profession.”

Mr. Davis has more than three decades as an administrator in the elder care industry.  He currently serves as president and CEO of Amsterdam House Continuing Care Retirement Community, Inc., sponsor of The Amsterdam at Harborside — the first and only life care retirement community in Nassau County, NY.  He previously held the position of president and CEO of Amsterdam Nursing Home.

“Many have encouraged and guided me in my career, including Mr. Larson,” said Mr. Davis during the awards program. “This is a great honor and I thank my colleagues here today as well as everyone at Amsterdam who I have the privilege to represent in accepting this award.”

A licensed New York State Nursing Home Administrator, Mr. Davis received his master’s degree in hospital administration from George Washington University.  His many contributions to the body of work on elder care have been published in, among other publications, The New York Medical Quarterly and Long-Term Care Forum.

A longtime member of the New York chapter of the American Association of Homes & Services for the Aging – rebranded as LeadingAge -- Mr. Davis has been instrumental in the association’s growth while serving in various volunteer posts over the years including finance, sub-acute care, and public policy committees.  He currently serves as chairman of the Board of Directors and on the Executive Committee of LeadingAge NY.  As well, Mr. Davis serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Alliance Continuing Care Network, a system of 21 skilled nursing facilities throughout the New York metropolitan area.

In addition to overseeing the operation and assets of the Amsterdam House Continuing Care Retirement Community, Inc., Mr. Davis is closely involved with the progress of residential life at The Amsterdam at Harborside and oversight of the on-site skilled nursing facility, The Tuttle Center.
