MyMusic.com Launches Online Music Experience Platform and Closes $1 Million in Seed Financing
Ottawa/London based startup company MyMusic has announced the Beta release of MyMusic.com (www.mymusic.com), on the heels of closing $1 Million in seed financing from a number of international angel investors.
MyMusic.com is a unique music exploration site that enables music fans to find, discover and share music content from around the Web. The site aggregates videos, blog posts, news articles, photos and downloadable tracks and presents them in a single, elegant interface. The site aims to revolutionize the way people search for, discover, and purchase music from their favourite music artists.
“The site was born out of our frustration with not being able to find all of the information about the music we loved in one place,” says Rob Lane, CEO of MyMusic. “We built a platform that does just that, and we think that music lovers everywhere are going to be very excited about the evolution of MyMusic.”
Currently, the platform features the ability to search for and view a huge variety of content for over a 100,000 artists. Users can also see what others are searching for, and collect achievements. MyMusic has global deals in place for music purchases with Apple’s iTunes and Amazon, as well as ticketing and lyrics providers. The site learns about individuals over time and will suggest content based on a users’ personal music preferences. In the coming months, MyMusic will expand to include new features that enable users to build online communities around curated music content.
MyMusic has already captured the attention of the music industry, and partnerships are being developed with several high profile record labels. MyMusic Chief Content Officer Stephen Bleeker comments, “Our long standing relationships within the music industry have really helped to give us a strong early advantage”.
“We are thrilled to be an advisor to MyMusic,” says Randy Lennox, President & CEO of Universal Music Canada. “We believe that MyMusic is going to be a driving force in the way people consume music content online. In the music industry’s ever-evolving shift to digital, we’re excited to be working with a company on the cutting edge.”
MyMusic has brought together a great team of some of the top web developers, user experience designers, content creators and advisors in the industry to develop the MyMusic platform, and in the coming months, will be continuing to add rich new features and respond to user feedback.
