-- Suffolk Community Healthcare has recently invested in a SonoSite NanoMaxx® hand-carried ultrasound system for its Biomechanics Clinic in Ipswich. Biomechanics Specialist Tina Belsom explained: “The Biomechanics Clinic specialises in the treatment of chronic problems, such as plantar fasciitis. Until now, we have relied on our clinical assessment, referring patients back to the GP if an x-ray or diagnostic ultrasound is required. The NanoMaxx will enable us to perform diagnostic ultrasound within the clinic, saving time and resources within the NHS, and eliminating any delay in confirmation of the diagnosis.”
“I regularly send patients for diagnostic ultrasound of posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, and it will be great to be able to look for tears myself, instead of making a referral. Patient compliance with treatment may also improve, as we will be able to explain the problem visually, making it easier to understand. I can also envisage our diabetes specialist finding it very helpful. The NanoMaxx is straightforward to use and the image quality is really good. Its compact design means that it does not take up much space and is very portable, which will make it easy to move the system between Ipswich and our other clinic at Newmarket, if necessary.”
