Sol Solar Announces Breakthrough in its Graphene Solar Cells.

For the best part of a year Sol Solar has been pursuing the use of Graphene for its solar cells production. With its ability to provide cheaper, more durable solar power cells we believe it is the future for our industry. Previously, the main issue with this technology was the power conversion efficiencies. At best these reached up to 2.9%. With this kind of power conversion percentage the benefits of Graphene as a usable material are simply not suitable.

Sol Solar Power has increased the power conversion efficiency of our Graphene solar cells to 8.9%. Enhancing Graphene through chemical treatments makes the film ore conductive and increases the electrical field potential within the cell. This has produced a 200% increase in efficiency and is obviously a major breakthrough with the technology.

Our research and development teams are currently working to see whether more significant increases in Graphene’s potential are achievable in the near future.

Currently we are working with several other industry leaders, enabling them to use our enhanced cells within their own prototypes. We feel that this is the best way to ensure the best possible usage for the material and will also allow us to work more closely with our peers in producing more efficient solar cells.
