American Artisan Bicycles and Stanford’s Composite Design Group Form Manufacturing Alliance

American Artisan Bicycles and Stanford University’s Composite Design Group have formed a multiyear alliance to bring advanced aerospace composite technology and design to carbon bicycle manufacturing in the USA.

May 29, 2012 - PRLog -- “To build faster, lighter, and stronger carbon road racing bicycles Stanford’s Composite Design Groups engineering expertise and access to “cutting edge” aerospace carbon is invaluable,” says company Founder and CEO, John Eggers, Ph.D. “With the support and assistance of Dr. Stephen Tsai, Professor Emeritus and Head of Stanford’s Composite Design Group we have incorporated CHOMARAT’s unique C-PLY™ Biangle Carbon NCF (patent pending) coupled with Aldila Composite Materials AR2527 superior resin technology into our road racing frames to build the highest quality product. This has trimmed a massive 200 grams of weight off each frame without strength compromises or rider weight limitations. The ride quality of a C-PLY™ NCF built frame is also unlike anything else out there. An experienced rider can feel the difference immediately.”
“We are the only bicycle company in the world using C-PLY™ and it gives us a unique competitive advantage and the potential to build the world’s lightest and strongest road racing bicycles made in the USA. Our latest sub 700 gram carbon tube set (52 cm frame) is proof positive we are on track to advance carbon bicycle design and set a new design standard,” reports Dr. Eggers.
