When Mike “Stinger” Glenn got to go to basketball camp every year,
and his dearest friends, the deaf and hard of hearing kids couldn’t,
he made a promise, one that he has kept for 33 years. He began a camp
for the deaf and HOH so they could increase their skills and learn the game – the Game of Life.
Denver writer, director and film producer Darla Rae , now working in
conjunction with national organizations like Hands and Voices, the
Marion Downs Hearing Center and others who have said, “This is a movie
that tells the story that hasn’t been told about sports and about
community and how so many benefit from these camps.”
This is the first time a major motion picture made by an independent
film maker, will employ students from the community to be in the
movie, helping to produce, fund, and promote the story. It will give
kids from many different walks of life the chance to see what real
filmmaking is all about, and have them be a part of giving back to the
community through art, work experience and life lessons.
“No movie has ever been crowd funded, supported by business and had
kids and the communities that it talks about be a part of the entire
process” says Darla Rae. “It has just been too hard, but when I felt
called to tell this story in film, I talked to everyone I knew and
know that we can raise the monies to then get the matching funds. “
Darla Rae and her Film It Productions company has secured matching
funds once the initial $100,000 is raised through the IndieGoGo
account and advertising and product placement. Anyone who has ever
wanted to help produce a movie can go to
http://www.SpiritofLoveMovie.com , get information, and donate as
little as $5.00 (tax deductible) and be a part of movie history.
