Former Fugitive Financier Writes and Publishes Fantasy Book called CRY

Salman Shariff, a former hedge fund manager, was released from prison—after serving a 57-month sentence—on April 1, 2012. He stayed busy during his incarceration by writing books. One such book, CRY, has just been self-published on iTunes.

June 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Mr. Shariff graduated from NC State University in Raleigh, NC.  Soon after, he ran a hedge fund in Miami, FL for four years.  Hedge funds are risky investment vehicles that are available only to qualified investors.  Mr. Shariff's funds were operating in a fraudulent manner and, as a result, he disappeared and became a fugitive for nearly seven years, during which time he resided mostly in NYC.  He was eventually arrested and sentenced to 57 months imprisonment, three years probation, and a restitution of $10 million.

His book CRY: A Compilation of Documents Recovered from the Cry City Ruins  is available on iTunes at the moment and can be read on an iPad using ibooks 2.  The book is classified as Fiction & Literature.  It is set in a fantasy world with an empire in civil war.  Cry City was destroyed and it is up to the reader to determine how it happened.  Each chapter is a separate document that tells the history of this ruined city.

Here is the promo for the book:  "This is a fantasy book where the reader plays the role of historian putting together the pieces to determine why and how Cry City was destroyed.  It is a unique experience that combines war, politics, philosophy, archaeology, sociology, and cryptanalysis.  A refreshingly dark fairy tale."
