May 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Students 7-11 years will have the opportunity for the second time this year to present their art to the community, and spread the word about youth art in Encinitas, CA with the opportunity to give back to others who might love to try art.

Their exhibition “24hrs” is representative of the events in a day of their lives.  3 painted canvases in vibrant colors reflecting their preferences and views are for sale with proceeds going to support youth art and the “Angels Program”.

Cheryl created “Stardust”, an after school arts program for third through fifth grade students beginning with the Oceanside Unified School District. Few opportunities for positive after school experiences exist for low income children who are at risk for gang violence and gang involvement in their neighborhoods. Cheryl’s mission was to bring excitement to the learning process, encourage artistic perception, and teach children problems can have more than one solution. She hopes children will develop visual spatial organization, creativity, confidence, as well as basic skills in drawing shapes, using elements of color, and understanding perspective.            (Photo “24 Hrs 4” by three SDA students)

To date, Ehlers and has taught over 5400 students since 2009 and has received support from the Kenneth A. Picerne Foundation, The City of Encinitas, & Mizel Family Foundations Community Grant, The City of Carlsbad, and private funding.

The display will be up between  May 31st to June 28th and contributes to the theory that “anything is possible if you simply try”.  You can view the display 7 days a week at the Off Track Gallery and also at the bi-monthly artists’ reception that is being held on June 9, 2012 at the Off Track Gallery located at 937 S. Coast Hwy 101 in Encinitas, CA  92024. Visits
