The 2012 IronWorks Youth Challenge sponsored by Reebok and hosted by CrossFit Legitimus is pleased to announce the largest CrossFit youth fitness competition and festival in the world to be held in Simsbury, Connecticut this summer.
 
May 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Simsbury, Conn., May 23, 2012 – The 2012 IronWorks Youth Challenge sponsored by Reebok and hosted by CrossFit Legitimus is pleased to announce the largest CrossFit youth fitness competition and festival in the world to be held in Simsbury, Connecticut this summer.

Inspired by the Reebok CrossFit Games where the world’s fittest athletes compete and share in the spirit of testing one’s fitness, the 2012 IronWorks Youth Challenge will celebrate these same principles in a fun, functional fitness competition for kids.  

Scheduled for August 11th from 10 am to 7pm at Simsbury High School the IronWorks Youth Challenge will feature 200 athletes between the ages of 11 to 17 competing in three fitness events testing strength, endurance, power, speed, agility to see who is the fittest. Proceeds from the event will benefit the James Stover Scholarship Fund.

The fitness festival will feature more than 100 fitness and wellness vendors including presenting sponsor Reebok’s fan activation zone. Spectators and attendees can participate in fitness and wellness seminars, sample healthy food and engage with top fitness brands. The IronWorks Youth Challenge will be ceremoniously opened with skydivers performing over the festival grounds and landing directly on the field of play.

“The Town of Simsbury is pleased to support the IronWorks Youth Challenge and Fitness Festival,” said Simsbury, Connecticut First Selectman, Mary Glassman. “The purpose of the games and festival is to encourage our youth to take part in health, wellness and fitness activities. We hope that youngsters will enjoy taking part in the event and will learn to make physical fitness an important part of their routine throughout their lives.”

Boys and girls between the ages of 11 to 17 can register for the IronWorks Youth Challenge at www.ironworksyouthchallenge.eventbrite.com. The $50 athlete registration fee includes a competition package valued at over $50 in apparel and accessories. Athletes will compete in three age groups for both males and females 11-12, 13-14, and 15-17. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each age group.  Volunteers are encouraged to sign up at the same website.

The Fitness Festival is open to both nonprofit and for profit entities interested in showcasing their products and services to an expected attendance of 5,000 people.
