May 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Imagine for a moment that you are the parent of a budding film school student. You send them to the finest film school in the state. You support them in every way imaginable as they toil away (you think) in those illustrious halls of fine education. You endure a few more years of cooking extra meals and picking up dirty socks now that your child has moved back home into your basement to pursue their passion.

But it’s worth it, you tell yourself, as the dreams you had of turning their room into your own personal day spa after they moved out the first time, are put on hold…indefinitely. You have visions of impressing your friends that your son or daughter is certain to be the next Spielberg. Yes, that is worth the wait!

And then it happens.

At the dinner table, in the most casual manner possible, your son or daughter announces they are ditching their dreams of Hollywood. Instead, they want to make simple little videos with a $100 camera for this new internet site called…YouTube.

That was just over 4 years ago. And James Wedmore, founder of Video Traffic Academy, an online community of over 4000 business people with both on and offline businesses that are using video to market their business online, has never looked back or regretted that decision. (and, his parents have happily recovered as well!)

Linking YouTube Genius with Successful Business Marketing

In a recent interview with Srinivas Rao of Blogcast FM, James talked about those early beginnings with online video marketing and how he has grown and mastered the art and science of getting YouTube videos ranked, found, and converting.

In a world where most people give up after 90 days, James stresses the importance of knowing that successful marketing online is not a “get rich quick” scheme. All those easy buttons are nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Real business building takes the power of dedication, and focusing your energy on doing a lot of the right things consistently.

“You have to have the end in mind right from the beginning. Know what your goals are so that you can see the bigger picture and are willing to put in the time and energy needed to get to your goal. You have to keep going even when you don’t see results right away.”

There are many lessons about online video marketing that James teaches his students and reveals during the BlogcastFM interview:

•   Video marketing, especially using YouTube for business, has never been easier with today’s technology.

•   Even when you believe you have a “face for radio” you can effectively use video marketing to dominate your industry and help your customers find you.

•   The science of Video Optimization can be learned, and can be outsourced, so that each and every video you create has the best chance of reaching your target audience and effectively delivering your message.

•   The power of building relationships far surpasses the outdated advice of simply building a list. And, it’s easier than you may think.

Do Real Businesses Get Results from YouTube Marketing?

And for those that wonder if anybody is really watching any of these YouTube videos beyond avid Justin Beiber fans or teenaged girls monitoring their favorite Haul Video (which by the way can earn 6-figure incomes for these young girls via sponsorships from cosmetic companies), just consider what some Video Traffic Academy business students are experiencing.

Like Jeff Rose who wrote, “I wanted to personally thank James Wedmore for the following email I received today. An employee from American Airlines contacted me today because they saw my YouTube video talking about the bankruptcy and their pensions youtu.be/d8hKvK_nVMY - video shot before my T3i :) - . Had it not been for VTA, I would have never thought to shoot it. Shot that video at 11:30 at night and edited the same evening…cool that people are watching the videos and feeling comfortable enough to contact me. VTA rocks! ”

Or David Slocombe who helps local businesses with their online video marketing who reported, “Thanks for everything you do with Video Traffic Academy. I help local businesses and have gained numerous front page listings with your expertise. Thank you.”

So while a James Wedmore mainstream Hollywood production will NOT be coming to a theatre near you in the foreseeable future, with over 4000 active students in his Video Traffic Academy course, you are more than likely to be watching a video that has been shot, edited and produced by an online video marketing student.
