-- Marbles: The Brain Store, a specialty retailer with a smart collection of games, puzzles, books and software designed to strengthen the brain, will open its first West Coast location on May 26 at the Westfield Topanga Mall in Canoga Park, marking the fast-growing retailer’s 19th U.S. location in less than four years. Additional California stores will open this summer at Santa Monica Place, Fashion Island in Newport Beach, San Francisco Centre and Stonestown Galleria in San Francisco.
Marbles: The Brain Store is known for offering a unique, fun and interactive retail environment where shoppers are encouraged to play games with BrainCoaches, or Marbles sales associates. Customers include parents shopping for their families as well as themselves, educators shopping for their classrooms and puzzle and game enthusiasts looking for something unique.
Marbles divides its stores into five categories focused on specific areas of the brain: Coordination, Critical Thinking, Memory, Visual Perception and Word Skills to help shoppers hone in on the areas of the brain that they would like to improve.
“We strongly believe in the principal of neuroplasticity, or how you can generate new brain cells and form new connections by stimulating the brain in different ways,” said Gaskins. “Studies show that keeping the brain active by playing games and interacting socially can impact how your brain works and may even be able to ward off cognitive decline.”
“We work with experts to help us select the best products available and maintain a keen focus on customer service by offering a fun, interactive environment where guests can have fun while they’re in our stores,” said Gaskins. “We want to be known as a really fun place to visit.”
