Innocent Law Student Accused of Masterminding Murder
When two men were convicted of a murder, one lied about Gloria Killian being the criminal mastermind in order to receive a reduced sentence. Gloria served over sixteen years in prison for a murder she did not commit.
It began as a robbery. It ended in murder. A man dressed as a telephone repairman knocked at the door of coin collector Ed Davies. Once inside, the stranger and his partner pulled a gun on Davies and his wife, hogtied them and ransacked the Davies’ safes. After filling six suitcases with silver and gold coins, the criminals fatally shot Davies in the head twice and his wife once.
The police investigation intensified and through tips, the alleged killers were caught, tried and convicted. After sentencing, one criminal frantically tried to plea-bargain and told the prosecution that a third-year law student named Gloria Killian masterminded the crime. Zealously, the prosecutor went after her and, though she consistently proclaimed her innocence, Killian was tried and convicted.
FULL CIRCLE: The True Story of Murder, Lies and Vindication (New Horizon Press, April 2012) by Gloria Killian and Sandra Kobrin reveals the horrific murder, the shocking trials and how, ten years after Gloria’s conviction, an attorney found massive exculpatory evidence, hidden documents, prosecutorial misconduct and perjury pertaining to Killian’s case. Upon learning about the new evidence in her case, Killian’s own fight for freedom began.
