May 21, 2012 - PRLog -- After seven strong years in the fire industry, and 32 years in the security sector, American Security Systems (American) is proud to announce many exciting developments in its Fire Division.  This includes accelerated expansion in the five boroughs and in New Jersey, along with the hire of Shia Tauber, a fire industry pro.  Tauber brings more than 15 years of electrical and fire industry design, project management and IT expertise to the American team.

The new client successes, partnerships and staff additions American has made them a major player in the industry.  Jeffrey Siegel, Director of the Life Safety Division for American, has recently been elected as the President of the New York Fire alarm Association.  American Security utilizes an FDNY and UL approved Central Station for the monitoring of fire, burglar and Video Doorman® products.

American is an authorized strategic partner with several fire alarm manufacturers.  Gamewell/FCI by Honeywell is the industry leader in technology, while Vigilant by Edwards (EST) offers great small building solutions.  Vesda by Xtralis is world-renowned for very early detection and special applications.  American's technicians are certified in these products as well as others.

New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) has contracted American to service 231 community and daycare centers and buildings in the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island.  Other new contracts for American's Fire Division include the Downtown Heliport, the Dyckman Farm Museum, FedEx, The Bossert and Mother Ad Agency, to name a few.

In April, 2012, American became the first company to be approved by the FDNY to service fire alarms.  The FDNY has begun a certification program to ensure that fire alarms only be serviced by qualified companies and technicians.  Beginning in  August of 2012, FDNY will write violations to building owners who do not use approved companies for the service and required test and inspection of their fire alarms.  The certification is called S97.
