Pantego Christian Academy to Host Carter Blood Care in Honor of Mark Warren

May 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Carter Blood Care will park its rolling blood donation station on the campus of  Pantego Christian Academy Tuesday, May 22 to collect blood in the name of a PCA parent who attributes his recovery from a recent illness to a miracle.   Two short weeks ago, Mark Warren was a self-proclaimed “suburban super-dad.”   After waking up feeling ill in the middle of the night, Mark went from ER to surgery to  ICU in a matter of hours.  His heart stopped twice during surgery, and one lung collapsed as well.  What started as a bleeding ulcer ended up in a near-deadly battle for life.  All told, Mark received a total of 34 units of blood during his surgery and recovery.  The human body holds just 14 units, so Mark lost and replaced more than twice the blood a typical person possesses during the course of a painful few days.  

The Warren family is blessed with a solid faith, one that was strengthened rather than tested during his recent and much unexpected health crisis.  In addition, the family has a new appreciation for those who so selflessly give the gift of life as they donate blood.  
Pantego Christian Academy will host a blood donation in Mark Warren’s honor on Tuesday.  Donors need not be a match.  Each unit of blood donated in his name will credit the family’s account and help offset costly medical expenses regardless of blood type.  What’s more important to the Warren family is their experience will heighten awareness for the ongoing need for blood, and pray many will be called to donate so they can bless others who don’t yet know of critical emergencies in their tomorrow.

The Suburban Super-Dad and his wife are parents to two PCA elementary students. They are very mindful of how this life-changing experience for their family will impact their own children, and others.  “I think God led me through this ordeal for a reason.  I don't know what that reason is yet, but thanks to Him, I have time to figure it out,” Mark says.  “Also, the overwhelming amount of love, and support, and prayers I've received has been humbling and amazing.  I never would have dreamed that people would react the way they have.  Friends, family, acquaintances, and even strangers have leapt to the aid of my family.  It's awe-inspiring.  It's beautiful.  I'll never be able to thank anyone properly much less everyone, but I'll start by simply saying, “thank you."
