May 21, 2012 - PRLog -- United Kingdom, May 21, 2012 - With one in four of us experiencing some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year, Mental Health Awareness Week, from 21–28 May, aims to help people to survive, recover from, and prevent mental health problems. To support the campaign, Emerald is offering free online access to the 22 journals in its Health and Social Care collection, including acclaimed mental health publications Journal of Public Mental Health, Mental Health and Social Inclusion, and the Mental Health Review Journal.  The journals and free access details are available now at www.emeraldinsight.com/tk/mhaw2012  until 04 June.

Addressing the issues at the complex interface of research and clinical practice, Emerald’s Health and Social Care collection contains over 5,000 articles and spans subjects such as mental health and well-being, criminal justice and care, intellectual and learning disabilities.

The strength of the mental health collection lies in its coverage of service delivery; workforce training, social inclusion and policy analysis.

Recent articles covering mental health include:

-    Exploring gender differences in quality of life – the first explorative study of gender differences in hospitalized patients with severe mental illness.

Mental Health Awareness Week is organized by the Mental Health Foundation, the UK’s leading mental health research, policy and service improvement charity.  Since the first Mental Health Awareness Week in 2001, topics such as loneliness, anger, fear and anxiety have been pushed into the public sphere.
