Press Release For Immediate Action

Since 1918, American women have answered their country's call to serve. We have served proudly with distinction and honor; each generation evolving but always retaining our proud traditions. The Women Marines Association is the only veterans association for and about women Marines. We have gone from "Free a Man to Fight,” to being with our fellow Marines in every clime and on every shore.

On August 31st a large contingent of Marines of all ages will meet in Philadelphia to celebrate generations of service as Marines. Our 2012 Convention is dedicated to those Marines who have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. It is the perfect time for Marines of all ages to reconnect with their roots of “Where it All Began”.

Among the list of prominent guests and speakers are Lieutenant General Carol Mutter, Brigadier General Lori Reynolds, Renowned authors Vernice Armour, Jane Blair and Tracy Crow as well as a host of well-respected Marines. Our invited distinguished guests include the Commandant and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.

The 27th Biennial Women Marines Association Convention and Professional Development Conference features specially tailored workshops for active duty Marines. Workshops include: "Mentoring for Success in and After the Corps" (moderated by Kathleen Carroll); "Marines and the Female Engagement Teams" (moderated by LtCol Julie Nethercot); "Telling Our Marine Corps Stories" (moderated by Mitzi Manning); and "Veterans Benefits and Special Concerns" (moderated by Betty Moseley Brown of the VA Women's Center).

Attendance is open to Marines serving in an active duty or reserve status and all former Marines. Commanding Officers are strongly encouraged to support attendance in order to further professional development of their personnel. Issuance of TAD orders, to include registration, transportation, lodging, and per diem is authorized. If funds are not available, permissive TAD orders may be issued. You need not be a member of WMA to attend.  Active duty see MARADMIN 199/12 http://www.marines.mil/news/messages/Pages/MARADMIN199-12...
