Exotic Cookbook Filled with Bengali Favorites

Subal Kumar Mitra releases cookbook filled with more than 100 authentic Bengali recipes.

May 17, 2012 - PRLog -- LANCASTER, PA – Authentic Bengali food is sometimes hard to come by in certain parts of the U.S., but one Pennsylvania author has come up with a way for anyone to have Bengali food like it was made years ago.

Subal Kumar Mitra has pulled together more than 100 authentic and time-tested Bengali recipes in the recently released cookbook, Exotic East Indian Bengali Cooking. Exotic East Indian Bengali Cooking helps you cook like your grandmother — or her grandmother —used to cook. Recipes cover a range of dishes, including curries, kebabs, kofta — meatballs —, dahls, vegetables, and of course, fish. Mitra compiled the recipes over many years, but some date back even further. Some recipes go back more than 1,000 years!

Mitra wrote this recipe book to allow younger cooks to experience the taste of authentic Bengali cooking, and also as a way to give families a chance to experience mealtime excitement with out-of-the-ordinary dishes.

Mitra, a native of Varanasi, India, lives in Pennsylvania. Exotic East Indian Bengali Cooking is available on Amazon.com, for $16.99.
